Wilbur L. Pappy Burnsides

Wilbur L. Pappy Burnsides, age 91 of Council Bluffs passed away December 20, 2012 at Risen Son Christian Village. He was born in Forbes, Missouri on August 10, 1921 to the late Hugh & Dollie (Strickland) Burnsides. He proudly served his country during World War II in the United States Army. Pappy was an avid bowler and Horseshoe pitcher. He was a lifetime member of The VFW in Carter Lake and a 50 year member of the Eagles Club #38 in Omaha. He retired in 1987 after a career as a mechanic with P.I.E. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Eileen; 5 brothers and 1 sister. Pappy is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Terry & Linda Burnsides; 6 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Visitation is Wednesday 6-8PM at the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home. Funeral service is Thursday 1PM at the funeral home followed by a reception in the community room at Hoy-Kilnoski. Burial will be that afternoon in Westlawn Hillcrest Cemetery in Omaha. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
