William "Stan" Croushorn

February 22, 1934 — October 13, 2022

William Stanley Croushorn, age 88, passed away October 13, 2022.

He was born February 22, 1934, to the late William and Roxie (Collins) Croushorn in Malvern, IA. Stan proudly served his country in the United States Army and retired as a union painter.

Stan was many things, but most of all he was a good man; he taught his children how to be good people; to rise above challenges; to be responsible, to stand up to bullies; to live honestly; to understand that you can't win every time but you but you darn well better try your best; to reverse course when you're wrong and to let your actions determine who you are.

He was born during the Depression in Malvern, IA, and was the 1950 Southwest Iowa Golden Gloves champ at 112 lbs, a Korean era soldier, a railroad man until they found out he only had one kidney, a "Manner Man" bread delivery man, a union painter, a tinkerer, woodworker as a hobby, beloved husband, father and grandfather.

He married Linda Wade later in life and had a second family of three whom he adored-Austin, Kaela and Kyle. He retired early to stay home and be "Mr Mom" while Linda worked. He got the kids fed and off to school, was chaperone on countless school trips, was minivan Dad of three kids and all their activities and loved every minute of it. He wasn't howerver, a very good cook. He once put a can of pork and beans over a roast thinking it would make gravy. His family was his pride and he was the biggest fan of whatever his children or grandchildren were participating in. His goal was to live long enough to see his grandchildren graduate. "Methusala lived to be 900 years, I only want 200!" was a frequent quote of his. His biggest joy was spending time with the fine adults his children had become.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Michael Croushorn; brothers, Anthony and Austin Croushorn; sisters, Patricia Reeves and Gazelle "Gay" Croushorn.

Stan is survived by his wife of 43 years, Linda Croushorn; children, Austin (Ashleigh) Croushorn, Kaela (Brian Briley) Croushorn, Kyle Croushorn, and Patrick Croushorn; grandchildren, Lance, Mason, Annika, and Klara.
