Alvin F. Luna

Alvin F. Luna, 67, was born September 9, 1954 and passed away on July 2, 2022 at home after a tough battle of cancer.

Alvin was given the gift of a daughter, Mandi Zimmerman (Stuart) of Pleasantville, IA, another daughter, Heather Kelso; and a son, Clyde Welsh (Jenifer), both of Council Bluffs; 8 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

He worked at Safeway in Omaha for several years, before moving onto Seldin’s, where he retired after 40 years. Alvin donated his body to science with the hopes of someday finding a cure for cancer.

Alvin was preceded in death by his parents, Socorro and Mable Luna, of Council Bluffs.

He is survived by brothers, Mike Luna (Virginia) and Denis Luna; sisters, Julia James (Jim), Janice Luna, and Joyce Kelly (Pat), all of Council Bluffs.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 2:00pm to 4:00pm on Sunday, August 21, 2022 at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home. The family suggests that all donations be given to the Cancer Society or St. Croix Hospice.
