Barbara Ann Kuehn

Barbara Ann Kuehn, age 71, passed away May 27, 2023.

Barb was born February 4, 1952, to the late Frank and Leona (Herdzina) Stopak in Grand Island, Nebraska. She graduated from Silver Creek High School in 1970 and Stewarts School of Hairstyling in 1971. Barb married Duane Kuehn in 1979. To this union two daughters were born: Amanda Kuehn and Rebecca (Jason) Perry. She is also survived by stepchildren Corcoran (Michelle) Kuehn and Dawn (George) Thomas and grandchildren Patrick Kuehn, Isabella Kuehn, Erica Kuehn, Tatum Lott, Khrisda Lott, Joseph Thomas, Alexander Thomas, and Bryce Perry.

Barb joined the military in 1974 and worked as a reservist and active-duty member with the Army. Her time with the Army included a deployment in support of Operation Desert Storm with the 403rd military police unit. The unit was the first POW camp to arrive in Saudi Arabia and landed the day before the start of the air war. Barb retired from the Army in 1995 as Staff Sergeant.

In 1995 Barb started with the United States Postal Service as a mail carrier in Omaha and retired in 2014 as Administrative Assistant to the Postmaster.

During Barb’s retirement she enjoyed her greatest reward, being Nana. Her days were spent carpooling grandchildren around and working on the many crochet/knitting projects her family requested. Barb’s days were also filled with daily phone calls with her closest friends and family as well as stopping at local garage sales.

Not only was she the most loving mother to her children, but she was also their friend. We will sincerely miss all of her advice, funny stories, and the weekly family dinners.

Visitation will be held at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 30th from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM. Funeral will be held at Timothy Lutheran Church at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, May 31st. Inurnment at Omaha National Cemetery at a later date. The family will direct memorials.
