Betty Jean Hamer

Betty J. (Grienke) Hamer-Reed, age 78, passed away May 20, 2014. She was born in Alta, Iowa on January 26, 1936 to the late Fred Grienke & Helen Pearson. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sister, Phyllis Lewis; brother, Edward Grienke; niece, Becky Grienke; step-father, Carl Pearson; step-mother, LaVonne Grienke; husband, Gilbert Reed; step-brother, Butch Weiland. Betty is survived by her children, Cindy Shannon, Vicki Williams (Ron), Sheri Ellis (Tom), Kathy Hamer, Candy Neagle (Melvin), Kim Life, Steve Hamer (Marsha), Connie Ploeger (Randy Fulkerth); brother, Jim Grienke (Blondina); sister, Donna Donaldson; step-children, Larry Reed and Cindy Long; half-brothers, Fred Grienke (Kathy) and Bob Grienke; half-sister, Suzanne Rupp; step-sister, Sally Johnson; 33 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Friday followed by a funeral service at 3:00 p.m. at the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home. A second service will be on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Alta, IA. Interment is in the Woodlawn Cemetery. The family will direct memorials.
