Brian A. Rommel, age 60, passed away on August 10, 2025.
He was born July 7, 1965, to Russel and Marilyn (Richardson) Rommel in Davenport, IA. Brian graduated from Davenport West High School with the class of 1983 and then earned a Bachelor's Degree from Saint Ambrose University. Brian worked at J.C. Penney from 1987 to 2005, and spent the last 20 years working for the Union Pacific Railroad.
Brian was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church and a proud member of the Knights of Columbus. He achieved the honors of both the 3rd and 4th Degrees, exemplifying the core principles of Charity, Unity, Fraternity, and Patriotism. Through his years of service, Brian contributed generously to the Church, community, and countless charitable causes, always guided by a deep commitment to his faith.
Born with a passion for life and an enduring love for sports, Brian was a devoted fan of the Chicago Bears, Chicago Cubs, and Iowa Hawkeyes. Whether it was cheering from the stands, coaching from the sidelines, or sharing stories with friends and family, Brian's enthusiasm was unmatched. He never missed a game when his teams were playing and always believed that "this year" could be the year.
Brian was a dedicated family man. He was the rock of his family - a loving husband, a proud father, and a doting grandfather. His children grew up not just with a father, but a coach, a mentor, and their biggest fan. Brian spent countless hours volunteering his time coaching their youth sports teams, teaching not only the fundamentals of the game, but also the values of teamwork, dedication, and good sportsmanship.
When he wasn't watching or coaching sports, Brian could often be found working on or cruising in his Corvette.
He was preceded in death by father, Russel Rommel.
He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and loyalty. Brian is survived by his devoted wife of 35 years, Amy Rommel; son and daughter-in-law, Kyle & Catherine Rommel; daughter and son-in-law, Lauren & Adam Beck; grandchildren, Dean Beck and Ivy Beck; mother, Marilyn "Mim" Rommel; brother and sister-in-law, Kevin & Tracy Rommel; in-laws, Tom & Martha Jirsa; nephews, Keaton Rommel, Sean Powers, and Nate Powers; nieces, McKenna Rommel and Rylee Rommel; sister-in-law, Pam Powers (Rich); and a wide circle of family and friends who will remember him for his warm heart, spirited cheers, and unwavering dedication to the people and things he loved most.
His absence will be deeply felt, but his spirit will live on in every game-day celebration, every family gathering, and every engine rev.
