Calvin D. Dorsett, age 88, passed away at Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital on June 14, 2025.
He was born September 26, 1936, to the late Albert and Edna (Spry) Dorsett in Quasqueton, IA. Calvin graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School with the class of 1955 and then proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. attaining the rank of sergeant. He then spent approximately 15 years with the Iowa Highway Patrol. After the patrol, he worked as an insurance agent for many years. In retirement, he worked at both Harrah's and HyVee. Calvin was a longtime member of New Horizon Presbyterian Church. Prior to the church merging, he was both an Elder and Deacon at Grace Presbyterian Church. He was also a member of Optimist International. Calvin coached little league baseball and softball. He loved to fish, travel, and garden.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Ben Adamson, Dick Adamson, Walt Adamson, Pete Adamson, and Verne Adamson.
Calvin is survived by his wife of 64 years Sondra Dorsett; children, Rodney (Barbara) Dorsett, Mark Dorsett, Roger (Mona) Castor, Sherri (Kevin) Lloyd, and Darrin Moss; sister, Letty (Art) Lindley; grandchildren, Alea (Harrison) Jones, Simon Brewer-Dorsett, Rian (Branda) Lloyd, Lindsay (Ethan) DeKay, and Josh Queen; great grandchildren, Perseus Calvin Jones, Karson Risinger, and Wrenlee DeKay; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 17, 2025. Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM at New Horizon Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, June 18, 2025. Interment wil be later that afternoon in the Omaha National Cemetery. The family will direct memorials.
