Cameron Eugene Moore

Cameron E. Moore of Council Bluffs, Iowa died September 28, 2026 at 8: 00pm at home. He was born December 1, 1936 at Horton, Kansas, the only child of Laurel D. Moore and Helen Mae (Rockhold) Moore. He was born on his father's birthday. He grew up in Hiawatha, Kansas and graduated from Hiawatha High School class of 1954. We went to Kansas State University and graduated in Business Administration. He also graduated from Graduate School of Banking at University of Wisconsin, Madison. 

He married his high school sweetheart, Ruth Swearingen on October 27, 1957 in Hiawatha. They resided in Abilene, Kansas for twenty-five years where he was with Citizen's Bank and Trust Co. He then went to Iuka State Bank, Iuka, Ks., Peoples Exchange Bank, Elmdale Ks, and the State Bank of Whiting, Whiting Ks. 

Mr. Moore was a member of the Lutheran Church, ELCA.  Over the years he was a member of Jaycees, Kiwanis Club, and Rotary Club where he held various offices. 

He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife of forty-nine years. Survivors include son, Douglas E. Moore and wife Kathy of Council Bluffs, IA, Daughter, Deanne R Reed and husband, Marion of Council Bluffs, IA, five grandchildren: Jaime Smith, Kelsey Moore, Shawn Moore, Blake Reed, and Katherine Kates, and 8 great-children. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Nancy Swearingen and a special friend, Nancy Darrow.

Mr. Moore was cremated. Memorial services will be at Prairie Gate, Council Bluffs, IA on October 24, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. and at Bethany UCC, Hiawatha, Ks at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Brown County Historical Society, Hiawatha, KS.
