Carl Wilson, age 91, passed away peacefully at his house on March 23, 2026. Carl was born October 1, 1934 to Clarence Wilson and Bertha Schroeder in Avoca, NE.
Carl was a member of the Carter Lake volunteer Fire Dept for many years, as well as chief. He was also part of the Carter Lake police force as well as animal control. After his retirement for Paxton-Verling Steel, Carl became the owner of Manuel's Tire shop.
For over 30 years, Carl could be seen at the shop sharing his stories and jokes with all the customers that came through the door. Before the shop's closing, he was great at holding down his recliner as he assured everyone he knew exactly who was coming and going even if his eyes were closed!
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley Wilson; second wife, Harlene Wilson; brother, Kenneth Wilson; sisters, Wanda Hoefker and Norma Riedmann; sons-in-law, Brian Glathar and Bobby Sellers; great-grandsons, Darrell Glathar and Lincoln Sellers.
Carl is survived by his son, David (Marilyn) Wilson; daughters, Kathy Glathar, Sheryl Sellers, Carla Hunter, and Roberta (Mark) Schadde; his brother, Thomas (Jan) Wilson; 12 grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and a host of other family and friends.
Memorial service will be held at 10AM on Saturday April 18th, 2026 at Florence Christian Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Carter Lake Volunteer Fire and Rescue or Florence Christian Church.
