Carol Bernhards

Carol S. Bernhards, age 69, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded with loved ones on December 4, 2025. She was born August 8, 1956 to Robert and Donna (Key) Bernhards in Bellevue, NE. As a teenager and young adult, Carol was an active participant in the West Pottawattamie Saddle club showing her horse, Prince. Carol graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in 1976. Carol received her degree in pharmacy from Creighton University in 1979. Carol worked as a pharmacist at Drug Town/Hy-Vee for almost 25 years before having to retire due to ongoing illness. Carol loved her work as a pharmacist. In addition to her love for her work, Carol and her mother planted a large vegetable garden every year, took great care to have beautiful flower and hosta gardens in her backyard, was an avid collector of anything moose related, and passionately loved animals, especially her little dapple Dachshund, Gabe.

She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Bernhards (2010).

Carol is survived by her children, Jessica Chavera (John Stanford) and Corey Chavera; mother, Donna Bernhards.

At Carol's request, there won't be any services at this time. In lieu of flowers and with Carol's great love for senior dogs the family would be honored to have donations sent to Promise 4 Paws.
