Carroll Alva Tibbles, age 71, passed away on April 20, 2026, with his wife and daughter by his side. Carroll was born on November 12, 1954, in Council Bluffs, IA, to Alva and Grace Tibbles. He grew up in Macedonia, IA and graduated from Carson-Macedonia School in 1973.
Carroll was proud to farm the same land his family had cared for through generations and looked forward to its recognition as a 150-year Heritage Farm this year. Farming was more than work to Carroll, it was a way of life, and he took pride in carrying on the family tradition.
In 1987, Carroll welcomed his daughter, Christy. He treasured the memories they made together over the years, including riding four-wheelers, feeding baby pigs, caring for bottle calves, traveling, and trail riding together.
He was active in his community and gave his time to many organizations over the years. Carroll was a Mason, Shriner, and member of the Scottish Rite. He also served on the Carson Rodeo Committee and Macedonia Cemetery Board. In years past, he was a member of the Wild West riding group, the Pony Express, and the Macedonia Volunteer Fire Department as a firefighter and EMT. He was also proud to have earned his black belt in Ishinryu. He was always willing to lend a hand and quietly help others whenever he could.
In 2006, Carroll married Tammy Tibbles. Together they enjoyed traveling and especially looked forward to spending winters in Texas. They loved spending time with their grandchildren, car shows, going out to eat, riding their trike, and were always ready for their next adventure.
Nothing meant more to Carroll than his family. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and especially enjoyed the many adventures they shared together. He was known for his sense of humor and his favorite saying, "Dessert first."
He is survived by his wife, Tammy; daughter, Christy Tibbles (Waylon) of Colona, IL; stepsons, Kerry Hackett of Scottsbluff and Cody Hackett of Macedonia; stepdaughter, Cami Larison (Dustin) of Carson; and grandchildren Viahna, Gracie, and Willow Uzelac, Emma, Harper, Statham, and Briggs Hackett, Lydia and Faye Larison.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alva and Grace Tibbles; brother, Terry Tibbles and sister, Bonnie Barber.
Carroll will be remembered for his kindness, steady work ethic, love for his family, willingness to help others, and the pride he had in his farm and community.
A Celebration of Life will be held on May 3, 2026 from 2:00-5:00 PM at the Carson Community Center.
