Charles Burbridge

December 10, 1954 — August 21, 2025

Charles P. "Chuck" Burbridge, age 70, passed away at Jennie Edmundson Hospital on August 21, 2025.

Chuck was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa on December 10, 1954, to the late Robert and Mary (Larsen) Burbridge. As a child, he was full of good-natured mischief and was always playing pranks on his siblings. He graduated from West Harrison High School in 1973. During his high school years, he was a dedicated student in the classroom and an athlete. He earned the title of state champion in wrestling and captain of the football team. Off the field, he was elected class president during his senior year and he participated in ROTC. After school, he put that solid work ethic into becoming a skilled carpenter, building and remodeling homes and businesses. In his own home, Chuck was a great cook who made the best taco salads and his famous reuben sandwiches. He was known for his quick wit and his endless supply of dad jokes. His laughter was a constant presence in the lives of his family and friends. He was an adventurous spirit who willingly jumped out of planes to skydive and he had a deep passion for space exploration watching many NASA mission launches. He loved rock music and sci-fi movies. He was an avid NASCAR fan and he could always be found on a fall Saturday rooting for the Cyclones. But above all else, he loved to spend time with his wife of 45 years, his daughters, their spouses, and his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Penny Barrier; brother, Steve Burbridge; in-laws, Willie & Audrey Wohlers; siblings-in-law, Merle Wohlers, Carol Dickens, and Billy Wohlers.

Charles is survived by his wife of 45 years, Lori Burbridge; children, Kristen Frey (Jesse), Lauren Burbridge, and Ashley Burbridge (Jake Williams); grandchildren, Mason Mark Charles Frey, Ella Anne Frey, and Lincoln David Williams; siblings, Eileen Lisle, Mary Ann Campbell (Ivan), and Cliff Burbridge (Sue), sister-in-law, Jean Caddell; nieces, nephews, and cousins; and a host of other family and friends.

Private family services are being held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family will be donating to support public education.
