Charles "Chuck" Joseph Carlsen

July 16, 1939 — October 2, 2022

Charles "Chuck" Joseph Carlsen, age 83, born July 16, 1939 in Wells, MN. Resided in Silver City, IA until hospitalized in elder care in Springdale, AR. He passed away October 2, 2022 with his family gathered near while in the care of Hospice at The Maples at Har-Ber

Meadows.


Chuck was an ordained minister and pastored churches in Iowa, Missouri, Indiana, Washington and Arkansas. He served as a missionary in Costa Rica and spent his latter years in what he called marketplace evangelism, working at numerous establishments around the Glenwood/Council Bluffs, Iowa area. He enjoyed several men’s coffee clubs on a weekly basis. Chuck will be especially remembered for his dedication to God, involvement in ministry, and love for people; he did not know a stranger. He had an adventurous and creative spirit, with an outgoing and friendly nature. His hobbies through the years included giving away books, following sports, building homes, driving, as well as a keen interest in cars.


Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, Sanford E. and Florence L. Carlsen; and brother-in-law, Frank Martin.


He is survived by his children, Stephen (Steve) Carlsen and wife, Jen of Oklahoma City, OK; Rebekah (Becky) Charton and husband, Kevin of North Little Rock, AR; Elizabeth Martin and husband Adam of Winter Garden, FL; six grandchildren, Ashley Fechner, Nathaniel Carlsen, Luka Carlsen, Alexander Martin, Michael Martin and Noah Martin; his sister, Virginia (Ginger) Martin Compton and husband, Don of Birmingham, AL; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, dear neighbors and friends.


A Graveside Memorial will be held Sunday, July 16, 2023 at 12:30pm at the Silver City Cemetery. Officiants will be son, Steve Carlsen, and nephew, Monte Martin.


In honor of Chuck’s love for the Silver City community and his fun-loving nature, the family is hosting a Mr. Ice Cream truck at the Silver City Park on Pearl at 2:30 Sunday, July 16, 2023 (Chuck’s birthday.) Please come for a free Blue Bunny treat!
