Charles M. "Chuck" Killion, age 86, passed away at Jennie Edmundson Hospital while surrounded by his family on September 1, 2025.
He was born August 21, 1939, to the late Franklin and Iva (Inman) Killion in Oakland, IA. Chuck graduated from Carson High School with the class of 1957. In 1974, he began working for the Neola Gazette. In 1977 he moved to Treynor and became the editor of the Treynor Record. In 1983, he went to Terrace Hill and received an award for editorial excellence from Governor Ray. Chuck served on the Treynor City Council before becoming the Mayor of Treynor. He served as Mayor from 1993 to 2011.
Chuck was a lifetime lover of rodeo, competing in timed events, and later announced for rodeo events. Chuck volunteered with the Iowa High School Rodeo Association and was on the Board of Directors for Magic in Motion (a riding program for handicapped children). He was past president of GRRIN (Golden Retriever Rescue In Nebraska). He was a proud member of Delta Chi Fraternity.
In 1987, he married the love of his life, Fran. He loved riding horses, fishing, football, and golfing. Most of all, he loved his family, his friends, his community, and his God. He achieved his goal of living a life of service to others.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Lois and Naomi; brothers, Kenneth, Lynel, Carrol, and Bobby; daughter, Krystal Fahrenkrog.
Chuck is survived by his wife of 38 years, Fran Killion; children, Klay Killion, Kimberly Killion, Bob Fisher (Traci), Sean Fisher (Laura), and Susan Long (Jim); siblings, Roger Killion (Julie), Jerry Killion, Jeanette Killion, and Judy Weaver; grandchildren and great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home on Friday, September 05, 2025. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home on Friday, September 5, 2025. Interment Will be in the Zion Congregational Church Cemetery in Treynor. The family will direct memorials.
