Charles Ellis Legg, age 94, passed away Saturday April 3 with health issues that worsened quickly over his last couple weeks. His friends called him “Charlie” and wife Betty called him “Chas”. He was born August 15, 1931 in Oklahoma and lived his early life in Enid.

He loved to work on aircraft in his father’s hanger, went to Oklahoma State University, earned a Private pilot’s license, enlisted in the US Navy maintaining military aircraft, and then worked for United Airlines as a mechanic until retirement. Many of his family were or had been involved in the aviation industry.

His primary hobby interest was designing, building, flying, and competing his model aircraft. He also liked to Duck Hunt and trap shoot. He had a lot of wisdom about mechanical things and was sought after by his friends and family for advice.

He and his wife Betty always supported their 3 kids and getting a good education and following their dreams In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; his daughter, Deb; brother, Jim Legg; sister, Virginia Bachelder. Charlie is survived by his children, Ross (Jeanine) Legg and Lori (Larry) Pickett; grandchildren, Amy (Keith), Kristin (Dan), Brooke, Colton, Ryan (Aubrey), and Taylor (Matt); great grandchildren: Caitlyn, Samuel, Lenora, Holly, Cory, and Ariana; sister-in-law, Sue Legg; nieces, nephews, and cousins. Memorial visitation will be held from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM with special remarks at 5:30 PM at Hoy Kilnoski Community Room on Friday, April 10, 2026.
