Charlotte Ann Maschmeier, age 85, passed away at her home in Council Bluffs on August 18, 2026.
She was born November 10, 1940 to the late William and Leva (Mumby) Baker in Beatrice, Nebraska. Charlotte attended schools in Beatrice, Nebraska and graduated with the Class of 1958.
She married Ken on September 28, 1958 and to this union two children were born, Kenneth Lamarr "Marty" and Lawrence "Larry" Lynn. Charlotte was a homemaker and always took care of her family, putting their needs before her own. She was a cub scout den mother, Sunday school teacher and took both her boys to music and dance lessons and little league games. She took little time for herself, she enjoyed doing what the boys wanted to do, which included water and snow skiing, hunting, trap shooting and riding motorcycles.
Charlotte and Ken co-owned and ran South Side Press for 35 years. They enjoyed taking many trips on their Gold Wings and many years of square dancing. Her favorite thing was walking at the mall and having a quick cup of coffee before heading to work. She did find time to grow lots of beautiful red roses and had a collection of Beanie Babies, Bells and Music Boxes. Charlotte was a member of the Airstream Caravan Club and one of the first active women in the Council Bluffs Optimist Club.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by both sons, Kenneth Lamarr "Marty" and Lawrence "Larry" Lynn; siblings, Jeerine Sedam (Jack), Jacqueline Wilcoxen (Clint), Mitcheal Baker (Shirley), Sharon Hubka (David), Darlene Brezina (Jim), and Vicky Longwell.
She is survived by her husband, Kenneth E. Maschmeier; grandson, Jeremy Maschmeier; great grandchildren, Kaitlyn Maschmeier and Cameron Maschmeier; brother, John Baker; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation with will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home on Saturday, August 22, 2026. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home on Saturday, August 22, 2026. Memorials are suggested to the Council Bluffs Optimist Club.
