Charlotte Rollins

November 1, 1943 — May 30, 2023

Charlotte Rollins of Atlantic, Iowa passed away suddenly after a short illness on May 30, 2023 at Cass County Hospital in Atlantic Iowa.

Charlotte was born on November 1, 1943. She attended Carson High School, and graduated with the class of 1962. After high school, Charlotte went to art school and became an accomplished artist. Charlotte married Dwayne Rollins, Sr. on March 19, 1965 and had four children, Tracy, Teresa, Dwayne, and Tessie. Charlotte worked in Glenwood as a resident treatment worker and certified medication aide. She also was the supervisor at Hillside Manor. Charlotte opened and operated the Highway 92 club Charlotte‘s Web Tavern in Carson, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernie and Estill (Churchill) Harrill of Carson; brothers, Sherman and James Harrill; husband and life long friend, Dwayne Sr.; and nieces, Leslie and Courtney Harrill.

She is survived by her brother, Noval Dean Harrill; sisters-in-law, Jeanne, Janice and Linda Harrill; daughters, Tracy, Teresa, and Tessie; son, Dwayne Jr.; adopted son, Justin;  11 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

She had a wonderful sense of humor, great personality and was loved by so many. The tragic things in her life made her who she was and she was always cracking jokes, making light of the situation. Charlotte was tragically burned over 90% of her body in accident filling her father‘s lighter at age 4, and lost sight in one eye due to a fall at age 77, but neither could break her; they only made her stronger, more funny, and more compassionate. We will always miss her and who she was.

Memorial service is Tuesday, June 6, 2023, 3:00 p.m., at the Carson Community Building. A visitation will be held during the hour prior to the service, also at the Carson Community Building.
