Cherrene Dessa Allerton

Cherrene D. "Cherry"  Allerton, age 87, passed away at Northcrest Living Center on October 13, 2026. She was born May 27, 1939, to the late Rudolph and Opal (Hartwig) Sedlak in Council Bluffs, IA. Cherrene graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School with the class of 1957.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Amy Allerton; granddaughter, Jordan Slavin; sister, Cyndia Lieber Hansen.

Cherrene is survived by her husband of over 65 years, John Allerton; children, Beth Boyden (Roy), Emily Allerton, and Matthew Allerton; grandchildren, Abigail Haggerty (Jason), Sarah Clayton (Jeff), Ryan Wood (Bailey), Jeremy Belback, Zachary Saav, Joshua Vanderpool, Nathan Allerton, Jadyn Vanderpool (Connor), and Isaac Allerton (Kyra); 8 great grandchildren; a host of other family and friends.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home on Monday, October 19, 2026. Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 PM at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home on Monday, October 19, 2026. The family will direct memorials in her honor.
