Craig Schmielau

Craig Franke Schmielau, age 75, of Underwood, Iowa passed away on December 1, 2025.

He will be remembered as a steady, loyal, and deeply caring presence whose quiet strength left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.

Craig was born on July 28, 1950, he lived his life with integrity, resilience, and a genuine appreciation for the people around him. He valued hard work, meaningful relationships, and the simple joys that brought warmth to his days. His wisdom, humor, and gentle nature will be cherished by family and friends.

Craig dedicated 47 years of his career to Griffin Pipe, where he worked as an A-1 mechanic before retiring. His dedication, skill, and work ethic were admired by all who worked alongside him.

He is survived by his daughter, Wendi Hilario; his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his brothers, Clint and Curt; his sister, Colleen; and many other family members who loved him dearly. His presence, guidance, and kindness will continue to live on in all who were fortunate to know him.

Craig's legacy endures through the memories he created and the lives he touched. He will be profoundly missed.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home on Friday, December 05, 2025. Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home on Saturday, December 6, 2025. Interment is in the Ridgewood Cemetery. The family will direct memorials.
