Daniel R. Van Bibber, age 80, passed away peacefully at his home on December 10, 2025.
Dan was born on May 25, 1945, to Edgar and Roma (Klenk) Van Bibber in Omaha, Nebraska. He graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School with the Class of 1963 and later proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps-an experience that helped shape his strong character, work ethic, and deep sense of loyalty.
Dan was a strong, intelligent man with an even bigger heart who loved his wife, Suzy, deeply and his three children more than anything in the world. He was also a proud and devoted dad to his fur babies. Being a grandpa to his nine grandchildren brought him endless joy and love. Family gatherings were his favorite, especially when they included card games like Pitch or Poker, good food and conversation, and plenty of laughter.
An avid golfer and fisherman, Dan especially cherished time spent fishing with his beloved Gramps at the Nishnabotna River. He was also a passionate Huskers fan and could often be found at DJ's Dugout ("The Beer Joint"), cheering on the Huskers alongside friends and family-win or lose, always believing in his team.
Dan worked for Omaha Public Power District (OPPD) for 21 years, where he was known for his dedication and reliability. After suffering a stroke at the age of 53, he was forced to retire early, but he faced this chapter of life with resilience and quiet strength.
Above all, Dan cared deeply for those around him. He always wanted the biggest and best for his family and friends and would do anything to help others. He was the kind of neighbor everyone hopes to have-often snow-blowing nearly the entire block after winter storms, never expecting anything in return.
Dan was a loving and devoted husband, a caring brother, and a loyal friend. One of his closest and most cherished friendships was with his brother Bill, whose bond remained strong throughout their lives.
In addition to his parents, Dan was preceded in death by his brothers, Paul, William "Bill," and Timothy.
He is survived by his wife, Suzy Van Bibber; children, Connee Geise (Randy), Dan Van Bibber (Rachael), and Jen Olsen (Brian); grandchildren, Lindsey Worshek (Brendon), Abby Koenig (Tom), Mason Van Bibber, Zane Olsen, Hayden Van Bibber, Bennett Olsen, Paetyn Van Bibber, Easton Van Bibber, and Carter Van Bibber; his beloved fur-babies, Maxie and Mikey; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home, followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at Garner Township Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association or the Nebraska Humane Society.
Dan will be remembered for his strength, generosity, love of family, and the quiet ways he showed up for others. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the family he loved so fiercely.
