David Douglas "Dave" Davis, 81, of Crescent, Iowa, passed away on July 5, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer, just 31 days after the passing of his beloved wife, Jennie Davis.
Dave was born on January 1, 1945, in Atlantic, Iowa, to Albert Davis and Charlene Hansen Davis. He was one of three siblings.
A resident of Crescent for 53 years, Dave built a life centered on family, hard work, and unwavering devotion to those he loved. On January 28, 1963, he married the love of his life, Jennie Eva Bradley Davis. Together they shared 63 wonderful years of marriage, building a life rooted in love, faith, and family. Even in their final days, they remained by one another's side as they both courageously battled cancer.
Dave worked as a machinist for Vickers Hydraulics for more than 40+ years. He was respected for his strong work ethic, exceptional skill, and dedication to his craft. Outside of work, he was a natural problem-solver, affectionately known by his family as "Mr. Fix-It" because of his remarkable ability to repair, build, and create just about anything. He especially enjoyed restoring antiques and collectibles, taking great pride in bringing old treasures back to life.
Above all else, Dave was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His life was defined by his love for his family and the deep bonds he shared with those closest to him. Whether lending a helping hand, sharing a laugh, or offering quiet support, he made those around him feel loved and cared for.
He is survived by his children, Dave Davis and wife Dawne, Cheri Mensching and husband Scott, Doug Davis and wife Janet, and Jeff Davis; 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; his brother, Dan Davis; and many extended family members and dear friends.
Dave will be remembered for his creativity, strength, sense of humor, generous heart, and unwavering love for his family. His legacy lives on through the family he cherished and the countless lives he touched with his kindness, wisdom, and steady presence.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jennie Davis; his parents, Albert and Charlene Hansen Davis; and his brother, Dale Davis.
In accordance with his wishes, a private family graveside service will be held.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude for the love, support, and kindness shown during this time of loss. Dave will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
