David Navarro Figueroa passed away on September 18, 2026, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, at the home of his daughter Matilde, surrounded by the love of his family. He was 72 years old.

David was born on December 1, 1953, in Rancho El Sabino, in the municipality of Ameca, Jalisco, Mexico, to Agustín Navarro and Ampelia Figueroa. He was the first of thirteen children, and from a very young age he learned the meaning of hard work, responsibility, and caring for others.

On April 1, 1978, David married Teresa Flores, his life companion for more than 48 years. Together they built a home founded on hard work, sacrifice, and faith, and raised four children: Matilde Alejandra, Moisés, David Elías, and Hazael.

Throughout his life, David worked in both Mexico and the United States. He was a farmworker, industrial mechanic, welder, and a man of countless projects. He spent many years of his working life in Washington, where his responsibility, honesty, and exceptional work ethic earned him the trust and respect of those who worked alongside him.

But David never lived simply to get ahead for himself.

When he learned something, he taught it. When he found an opportunity, he shared it. When he could help someone find work or build a better life, he did. Brothers, relatives, coworkers, and many others received an opportunity, a piece of advice, or a helping hand from David at some point in their lives.

He was not a man who needed many friends to feel fulfilled, yet those who knew him respected and deeply cared for him.

His faith in Christ was also a fundamental part of his life. In Ameca, Jalisco, David played an important role in the building of the city's first Pentecostal Christian church, where he lived the early years of a walk with Christ that would remain with him throughout his life.

Later, in the Seattle, Washington area, he was among the early members and recognized founders of Centro Familiar Cristiano. Finally, together with Teresa and their children, David also helped build the church in El Sabino, in the municipality of Ameca, Jalisco.

In many ways, David was a builder.

He built with his hands. He built opportunities. He built churches. And together with Teresa, he built a family whose story continues to grow.

His greatest legacy, however, lives in people.

David often repeated a simple phrase that his children would never forget:

"El sol sale para todos." - "The sun rises for everyone."

Those words reflected the way David lived. To him, helping another person prosper never meant losing something of his own. There was always another door that could be opened and always something that could be shared.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Agustín Navarro and Ampelia Figueroa.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Teresa Flores; his children, Matilde Alejandra and her husband, Santiago Ramos; Moisés and his wife, Ana Berta Medina; David Elías and his wife, Maria Ferreira; and Hazael and his wife, Elizabeth Castellón; as well as 12 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and a grandson on the way, expected in March.

He is also survived by his twelve siblings: María Isabel "Chabela," Manuel, Francisco, Guadalupe, Juan José, Felipa, Santos, Josefina, Silveria, Sara, Estela, and Agustín, along with an extended family and many others whose lives were touched by his.

David was the first of the Navarros-the oldest brother, a hardworking man, a man of projects, a man of faith, and someone who so often opened the way for those who came behind him.

His family says goodbye with deep sorrow, but also with profound gratitude to God for his life and for everything he planted along the way.

A Special Thank You from the Family

The family wishes to express its sincere gratitude to all of David's siblings, relatives, and loved ones who remained close and attentive during his final years: to those who called constantly to ask how he was doing; to those who cared for and looked after his affairs in Mexico when he could no longer do so himself; and to those who made the effort, expense, and journey-some on multiple occasions-to visit him and spend time by his side. Every call, every visit, every journey, and every expression of love was seen, appreciated, and deeply valued by our family.

A very special thank you to Matilde Alejandra and Santiago Ramos, who opened the doors of their home to David and Teresa and remained there for them until the very end.

And above all, our deepest recognition and gratitude goes to Teresa Flores, his wife and lifelong companion, who faithfully remained by David's side as his health declined, caring for him, accompanying him, and holding him close until the moment we finally entrusted him into the hands of Christ.

Thank you, Mom, for remaining by his side until Dad departed for the green pastures of his Lord.

Services

Family and friends are invited to gather on Friday, September 25, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Iglesia Dios Proveerá, 700 S 7th St, Council Bluffs, IA 51501.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 26, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home.

David's final resting place will be Ridgewood Cemetery.

David Navarro Figueroa falleció el 18 de septiembre de 2026 en Council Bluffs, Iowa, en casa de su hija Matilde y rodeado del amor de su familia. Tenía 72 años.

David nació el 1 de diciembre de 1953 en el Rancho El Sabino, municipio de Ameca, Jalisco, México, hijo de Agustín Navarro y Ampelia Figueroa. Fue el primero de trece hijos y desde muy pequeño aprendió el significado del trabajo, la responsabilidad y el cuidado de los demás.

El 1 de abril de 1978, David se casó con Teresa Flores, su compañera de vida durante más de 48 años. Juntos construyeron un hogar basado en el trabajo, el sacrificio y la fe, y tuvieron cuatro hijos: Matilde Alejandra, Moisés, David Elías y Hazael.

A lo largo de su vida, David trabajó tanto en México como en Estados Unidos. Fue campesino, mecánico industrial, soldador y hombre de innumerables proyectos. Pasó muchos años de su vida laboral en Washington, donde su responsabilidad, honestidad y extraordinaria ética de trabajo le ganaron la confianza y el respeto de quienes trabajaron con él.

Pero David nunca vivió solamente para salir adelante él mismo.

Cuando aprendía algo, lo enseñaba. Cuando encontraba una oportunidad, la compartía. Cuando podía ayudar a alguien a conseguir trabajo o mejorar su vida, lo hacía. Hermanos, familiares, compañeros y muchas otras personas recibieron en algún momento una oportunidad, un consejo o una mano de David.

No era un hombre que necesitara muchos amigos para sentirse acompañado; sin embargo, quienes lo conocieron lo respetaron y quisieron profundamente.

Su fe en Cristo fue también una parte fundamental de su vida. En Ameca, Jalisco, participó grandemente en la edificación de la primera iglesia cristiana pentecostés de la ciudad, donde vivió los primeros años de su caminar con Cristo.

Más adelante, en el área de Seattle, Washington, estuvo entre los primeros miembros y fundadores reconocidos de Centro Familiar Cristiano. Finalmente, junto con Teresa y sus hijos, participó también en la edificación de la iglesia de El Sabino, municipio de Ameca, Jalisco.

David era, en muchos sentidos, un hombre que construía.

Construyó con sus manos. Construyó oportunidades. Construyó iglesias. Y junto a Teresa, construyó una familia cuya historia continúa creciendo.

Su mayor legado, sin embargo, quedó en las personas.

David acostumbraba decir una frase sencilla que sus hijos nunca olvidaron:

"El sol sale para todos."

Esa frase reflejaba su manera de vivir. Para David, ayudar a otra persona a prosperar nunca significaba perder algo propio. Siempre podía abrirse una puerta más y siempre había algo que podía compartirse.

David fue precedido en la muerte por sus padres, Agustín Navarro y Ampelia Figueroa.

Deja a su amada esposa, Teresa Flores; a sus hijos Matilde Alejandra y su esposo Santiago Ramos; Moisés y su esposa Ana Berta Medina; David Elías y su esposa Maria Ferreira; y Hazael y su esposa Elizabeth Castellón; además de 12 nietos, dos bisnietos y un nieto en camino, esperado para marzo.

También deja a sus doce hermanos: María Isabel "Chabela", Manuel, Francisco, Guadalupe, Juan José, Felipa, Santos, Josefina, Silveria, Sara, Estela y Agustín, además de una extensa familia y muchas personas tocadas por su vida.

David fue el primero de los Navarro. El hermano mayor, el hombre trabajador, el hombre de proyectos, el hombre de fe y aquel que tantas veces abrió camino para quienes venían detrás.

Su familia lo despide con dolor, pero también con gratitud a Dios por su vida y por todo aquello que dejó sembrado.

El sol sale para todos.

Agradecimiento de la familia

La familia desea expresar su más sincera gratitud a todos los hermanos, familiares y seres queridos de David que estuvieron pendientes de él durante sus últimos años: a quienes llamaban constantemente para saber cómo se encontraba; a quienes cuidaron y atendieron sus asuntos en México cuando él ya no podía hacerlo; y a quienes hicieron el esfuerzo, el gasto y el viaje, algunos en múltiples ocasiones, para venir a visitarlo y pasar tiempo a su lado. Cada llamada, cada visita, cada viaje y cada muestra de cariño fue vista, apreciada y profundamente valorada por nuestra familia.

Un agradecimiento muy especial a Matilde Alejandra y Santiago Ramos, quienes abrieron las puertas de su hogar para David y Teresa y estuvieron presentes para ellos hasta el final.

Y, sobre todo, nuestro más profundo reconocimiento y gratitud a Teresa Flores, su esposa y compañera de vida, quien permaneció fielmente al lado de David mientras su salud se deterioraba, cuidándolo, acompañándolo y sosteniéndolo hasta el momento en que finalmente lo entregamos en las manos de Cristo.

Gracias, mamá, por permanecer a su lado hasta que papá partió a los verdes pastos de su Señor.

La familia recibirá a familiares y amigos el viernes 25 de septiembre, de 3:00 p. m. a 8:00 p. m., en Iglesia Dios Proveerá, 700 S 7th St, Council Bluffs, IA 51501.

El servicio funerario se llevará a cabo el sábado 26 de septiembre, de 9:00 a. m. a 11:00 a. m., en Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home.

Su lugar final de descanso será Ridgewood Cemetery.
