Dennis Bergeron

May 23, 1942 — Aug 24, 2026

Dennis "Denny" Bergeron, age 84, passed away on August 24, 2026.

Denny was born on May 23, 1942, in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, to Thomas and Constance Bergeron. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1959 to 1963. Following his military service, Denny continued his education and earned a bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering. After working in several positions throughout his career, he joined Raytheon, where he remained until his retirement in 2002.

Anyone who had the opportunity to meet Denny quickly learned that he never knew a stranger. Outgoing and blessed with the gift of gab, Denny could strike up a conversation with just about anyone. By the time the conversation ended, you walked away feeling as though you had just made a friend.

Denny was competitive by nature and especially enjoyed playing golf and shooting pool. After retirement, he remained very active in league play and enjoyed the camaraderie as much as the competition. An outdoorsman at heart, Denny enjoyed countless activities over the years, including golfing, boating, camping, skeet shooting, skiing, and hockey.

His greatest passions, however, were motorcycles and Corvettes. Denny and his devoted wife, Tammy, shared many adventures together, traveling and riding his motorcycle through different states. Those trips provided them with wonderful experiences and lasting memories.

When he wasn't on the road or enjoying one of his many hobbies, Sundays often meant football. Denny was a devoted New England Patriots fan and remained proud of his New England roots throughout his life.

Above all, Denny treasured the people in his life. His outgoing personality, stories, sense of humor, and ability to make a friend wherever he went will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.

Denny was preceded in death by his father, Tom Bergeron; step-mother, June Bergeron; brothers, Ron Bergeron and Bob Bergeron; and sister, Marsha Cedarlund (Ron).

He is survived by his devoted wife, Tammy Bergeron; sons, Dennis (Jenny Jo) Bergeron and Chris Bergeron; step-sons, Scott Steingraber and Wyatt Steingraber; daughter, Megan Gernstein (Brad); seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; Sister, Gail Pelletier (Jacques); Sisters-in-law, Lynda Gilliland (Terry), Monique Bergeron; many loving nieces and nephews and friends who will continue to cherish his memory.

A Celebration of Life will be held on September 11, 2026, from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Barley's in Council Bluffs, IA. (114 W Broadway, Council Bluffs, IA 51503)
