Dennis Leo Wallace

Dennis Leo Wallace, 82, of Council Bluffs, IA, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2026.

He was born May 19, 1943, in Council Bluffs, IA, the son of Leo Dennis Wallace and Agnes L. Wright. His father, who raised 6 children, shaped his work ethic that stayed with him for his entire life.

Dennis shared 61 years of marriage with his wife, Sheri Roenfeld, where together they built a life on Harmony Street filled with family, friends and simple joys.

Dennis served in the United States Navy, then the Iowa National Guard. He was a man who showed his values through action, working many jobs to support his family and quietly helping others along the way. He served his church in many capacities, and was one of the first faces you would see to greet you. He delivered Meals on Wheels and would many times give rides to those in need.

Dennis also had a great sense of humor and loved making people laugh. Whether it was a well-timed joke or his signature dance moves, he had a way of bringing a smile to those around him.

He enjoyed the things that made life good-growing tomatoes, fishing, penny slots at the casino, fast food burgers, an occasional whiskey and cigar. He was competitive and loved playing cribbage and cards especially 10-point pitch, where he was known for bidding high.

He is survived by his wife, Sheri, son, Dennis (wife-Shelley), his daughter, Dionne Perrin (husband-Tim), and his grandchildren, Hayley, Taylor, Olivia and Emma. He is also survived by his sister, Loretta Frank and brother, Bill Wallace.

He was preceded in death by his brother's, James, Patrick, twin brother, Robert, and sister, Ellen.

Dennis will be remembered for always showing up for his family, helping others without being asked, and finding joy in the everyday moments. A family celebration will be held at a later date.
