Dixie Lee Hempel

Dixie Lee Hempel, age 80, passed away peacefully at the Josie Harper Hospice House on April 16, 2026.

She was born July 14, 1945, to the late Lester and Viola (Hurley) Michael in Council Bluffs, IA.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Hempel Sr.; son, Donald Hempel Jr.father; siblings, Bradley Michael, Sandy Pritchard, Bonnie Bass, Rodney Clark, Brian Michael, Daniel Michael, and Jerry Clark.

Dixie is survived by her children, Lesa Higgins (Mike) Bill Hempel (Chris), Alan Hempel, Tammy Wagman; sister, Marlene Shaw; grandchildren and great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins; a host of other family and friends.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home on Sunday, April 19, 2026. Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home on Monday, April 20, 2026. Interment will be in the Garner Township Cemetery. The family will direct memorials.
