Donald A. Ebert, age 88, passed away May 17, 2021 in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
He was born in Westphalia, Iowa, on September 13, 1932, to the late John and Valeria (Schmitz) Ebert. After graduating from high school at Westphalia, Don married his love of his life, Marilyn Cunningham. He was attending Iowa State University for 1.5 years when he was drafted into the U.S. Army and proudly served for 2 years. He later retired from IBM after working there for 35 years. Don and Marilyn loved being snow birds in Arizona after retirement and also enjoyed camping during the summer months. He was a true car enthusiast, especially corvairs, having 30 corvairs during his lifetime.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn Ebert; daughters, Janelle Ebert and Mary Wetzel; siblings, Thelma Ebert, James Ebert and Joann Campbell.
Donald is survived by Linda Adams (Keith), Debbie Carpenter, John Ebert (Melody), Julie Pitts (Paul), Jeff Ebert (Theresa); brother, Robert Ebert (Shirley); 16 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren; a host of other family and friends.
Graveside service with military honors is at 10:00 a.m. in the St. Boniface Catholic Church Cemetery in Westphalia, Iowa, on Wednesday May 19, 2021.
