Donald "Donny" Grudle, age 67, passed away August 23, 2026. He was born September 15, 1958 to James and Patrica (McDonald) Grudle in Omaha, NE.
He married Linda Pauley Watts on August 28, 1982, two daughters were born in this marriage. Donny worked for Schuler Grain from 1979 until 1994 and later continued his career with Wilson Concrete. He eventually retired from Ready Mix Concrete, but retirement didn't keep him from working. He continued part-time hauling grain for Plambeck Trucking.
On March 25, 2017, Donny married Celeste Morris, and the couple made their home in Shelby, Iowa. Sunday was his favorite day; he attended the Methodist Church beside their home, he could spend the day with friends, family and napping.
Music was a big part of Donny's life. Naturally musically inclined, he had an incredible ability to pick up an instrument and play, despite never learning to read music. Over the years, he played in a band and enjoyed playing the drums, guitar, and bass. Music brought him a great deal of happiness and was something he truly loved.
Donny also loved riding his motorcycle and had always dreamed of someday owning a plane and learning to fly. Life simply got in the way of that dream.
Above all, family and faith were important to Donny. He treasured the people in his life and the time spent with those he loved. He will be remembered for his patience, his kindness, his musical talent, and the love he had for his family.
In additon to his parents, he is preceeded in death by his brother, Dennis Grudle; sister, Sandra "Kay" Denning; niece, Tricia Denning.
Donny is survived by wife, Celeste; children, Danielle (Anthony) Keefe, Samantha (Trent) Rannells, Shari (Patrick) Johnson, Amy Rice (Shawn Cowan), Kimberlee Denning (Troy Plambeck); sister, Jeanne Bielenberg; grandchildren, Logan Jacob-Lynn, Jordan, Allison, Melissa, Ethan, Trenton, Steven; niece and nephew, Tiffany Kramer and RJ Bielenberg and a host of other family and friends.
Vigil with Rosary will begin at 5:00 pm at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home on Friday, August 28, 2026 with open visitation until 7:00 pm.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 PM at Corpus Christi Parish - Queens on Saturday, August 29, 2026. Interment is in St. Joseph Cemetery. The family will direct memorials.
