Donald Albert Stronck

Sep 30, 1941 — May 26, 2026

Donald A. Stronck, age 84, passed away on May 26, 2026, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center.

Don was born on September 30, 1941, in Millville, Iowa, to John and Marie (Kloser) Stronck. Following the death of his father, the family moved from the farm to Dubuque, Iowa. After his mother remarried, they relocated to Appleton, Wisconsin, where Don graduated from Appleton High School.

Don proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1959 to 1963, working on jet aircraft during his military service. Following his discharge, he completed the Carpenter's Apprentice Training Program and began what would become a lifelong career in carpentry. When union work became scarce, Don worked as an independent contractor, specializing in new construction, repair projects, and custom cabinet building. He enjoyed working with wood and tools and took great pride in his craftsmanship. He also had a lifelong interest in automobiles and car repair.

In 1970, Don met Patricia "Pat" in Appleton while she was attending Wisconsin State University in Oshkosh and studying Elementary Education. They were united in marriage on April 17, 1971, and shared 55 years together. In 1972, they made their home in Iowa.

Don and Pat were blessed with four children: Peter, John, Sara, and Scott, all of whom graduated from St. Albert Catholic School in Council Bluffs.

Don and Pat were longtime members of Holy Family Catholic Church until its closure. They later attended several area parishes before becoming registered members of St. Patrick Catholic Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, George Pluemer and sister, Emilie (Stronck) Kennison.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia; sons, Peter, John (Rebecca Tonello) Stronck, Scott (Ashley Blin) Stronck; daughter, Sara (Michael) Kuebler; grandchildren, Emily and Gabriel Stronck; Christian, Nathaniel, and Ella Kuebler; Natalie, Connor, and Madison Stronck; brother, James Pluemer; sister, Ann (Pluemer) Barber; and a host of other family and friends.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home on Sunday, May 31, 2026. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM at Saint Patrick Catholic Church on Monday, June 1, 2026.  Memorials are suggested to Saint Albert Catholic Schools or the VA Hospital in Omaha.
