Doris Earleywine

January 30, 1932 — May 2, 2025

Doris Elaine Earleywine, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully at Glen Haven Village in Glenwood, Iowa on May 2, 2025, at the age of 93.

Doris was born on January 30, 1932 to Rudolph and Erma (Adix) Block joining her sister Deloris and brother Duane growing up in Magnolia, Iowa. She knew what love looked and felt like from the first day she arrived. She was a reflection of that love throughout her life.

Her unwavering love and her gentle and generous spirit touched many lives and served as an example to her children and grandchildren. Her life was a lesson in how to treat others, accept the things that come your way, make the most out of what you have, and love unconditionally. Doris lived modestly yet generously, dedicating her life to those she loved.

Beyond the role of mother, she was passionate about cooking, trying out new recipes, and forming her own family favorites recipe book. She never gave herself credit for all the beautiful items she created, including clothes for her children, Barbie and baby dolls. She shared her beautiful blankets, vests, hats, and Barbie clothes with family and friends. She even taught herself to reupholster a sofa. She also used her painting and crafting talents to collaborate with her husband Gail's wood crafting skills to create the most amazing gifts. She was also always game to join in with her family on all their crazy silliness.

Doris had seven children within eight and a half years and raised them, along with their dad, Alan Breyfogle, in Mondamin, Iowa. During those years, she dedicated her life to loving and caring for her family.

Once her youngest child graduated High School, she married Gail Earleywine on June 7, 1980 and moved to Des Moines, Iowa where Gail and his late wife, Elaine, had raised their 3 children. Gail promised Doris that he would move her back to Southwest Iowa once he retired so she could be closer to some of her girls. In 2001, he kept that promise, and they moved to Underwood, Iowa. They attended church at Underwood Lutheran Church for many years.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents; sister and brother; husband Gail; son David; previous husband Alan; great-granddaughter Billie Jo Thul, and many additional relatives that were very dear to her.

She is survived by her children, Linda (Bob) Maxwell, Ric Breyfogle, Cheryl Breyfogle, Deb (Rick) Saar, Doug (Rachel) Breyfogle, Kristi Hildreth; daughter-in-law, Barrie Breyfogle; stepchildren, Dennis (Deb) Earleywine, Chris (Cay) Earleywine, Pam Dearden; 26 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren (with 1 more on the way) and 4 great-great-grandchildren (with another on the way).

She will be missed by many relatives and friends and her legacy will live on through the memories she made in her 93 years on this earth.

Memorial Service for Doris and her husband, Gail will be at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home at 2:00 pm on Saturday, May 31st, 2025.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to Underwood Fire and Rescue in Underwood, Iowa or Harrison County Humane Society in Logan Iowa.
