Dorothy Higbee, age 98, passed away at Risen Son Christian Village December 3, 2021. She was born December 21, 1922 to Milton "Poke" Kidder and Pearl Kidder in Mullen, Nebraska. During World War II from 1942-1951 she was employed at an aircraft material estimator at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio. On June 23, 1951 she married Byron Higbee in Omaha and they raised 4 children. She attended UNO and earned a teaching degree and Master's degree in Counseling. She was a teacher and school counselor in Nebraska public & catholic schools from 1990 to 2010 and loved working with children. Dorothy was a lifelong Christian church member and Bible teacher worker, in the United Methodist Church and Seventh Day Adventist Church. She served on the Nebraska faith at Work Council as a master worker for over 25 years.
Dorothy enjoyed flying planes, working on her farm and spending time with her family. Her pride and joy was her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Byron Higbee; numerous sisters; 1 brother.
Dorothy is survived by children, Jill (Steve) Harrington, Gregg (Kathy) Higbee, Pam (Russ) Florea and Kirk (Martha) Higbee; sister, Glenice Van Eaton; many grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM - 11:00 AM at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home on Monday, December 13, 2021.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home on Monday, December 13, 2021.
The family will direct memorials.
Interment will be held at Grange Cemetery following services
