Elizabeth R. "Betty" Vanecek

Elizabeth R. (Betty) Vanecek, age 80, passed away peacefully with family by her side after a 5 year valiant effort fighting cancer. She was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Victoria (Platte) Johnson; sisters, Mary Ellen Johnson and Geraldine Haire; brothers-in-law, Dave Schwab and Roy Haire; son-in-law, Dale Hanson; and great nephew, Caleb Schwab.

Betty is survived by husband Charles; daughters, Glenda Yost, Rhonda Vanecek, Krystal Hanson, and Lisa Miller (Greg); 6 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy Faucz (Gene), Rosalie Spencer (Charley), and Kathy Wallace (Donald).

A gathering will be held on Saturday, July 24, 2021 from 11am - 2pm at Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home, 1221 N. 16th Street, Council Bluffs, Iowa. To celebrate Betty's fun-loving, friendly character, we'll raise a glass of Blanton's on the rocks at 11:30am. A luncheon will follow the gathering.
