Francis J. “Frank” Trouba, age 92, passed away December 22, 2025.
Margaret J. “Margie” Trouba, age 93, passed away November 7, 2025.
On a warm February day in 1954, Margie McNally and Frank Trouba were wed at St. Peter’s church in Council Bluffs, Iowa, beginning a life together that would endure for 71 years. In the winter of 2025, Margie and Frank were together again as they passed away within weeks of each other -- Margie on November 7 and Frank on December 22- - leaving a lasting legacy of love and commitment.
Frank was born in Omaha, Nebraska, on November 27, 1933, to the late Frank and Mary (Horky) Trouba. He was preceded in death by his sister, Eleanor Holt and is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Judy Trouba. Frank spent his entire career at Union Pacific Railroad, where in the 1960s he was among the first involved when the UP began investing in mainframe computers and information technology infrastructure. Frank was an avid builder and flyer of radio control model airplanes, known for his craftsmanship and ability to produce beautiful replicas of classic aircraft. He loved a competitive game of cribbage and was the ultimate handyman -- everyone’s first call for help when something needed to be fixed.
Margie was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa, on March 1, 1932, to the late Thomas (Harry) and Winifred (Sullivan) McNally. She was preceded in death by her three sisters -- Mary Boelter, Joan Bart, and Sharon Mark -- and by her two brothers, Austin “Pat” McNally and Richard McNally. Margie is survived by her sister, Nancy Casson. Margie always had a kind word for everyone and was the architect of countless birthday cakes, Halloween costumes, and Fourth of July parties at their home on Ruggles Street. An Irish girl who married into a Czech family, she soon mastered the classic recipes for potato dumplings and pork roast, houska and kolaches which became the Trouba family holiday traditions. Margie had a few jobs outside of managing her family, including a stint in the attendance office at Westside High School, a job that at times proved to be a little disconcerting for her kids who were students there at the time.
Together, Frank and Margie are survived by their seven children: Stephen Trouba, Karen Trouba, Tom Trouba (Anne), Jim Trouba (Carol), Denny Trouba, David Trouba (Susan), and Joe Trouba (Rochelle). They have eight grandchildren: Ashley Trouba, Patrick Trouba, Stephanie (Trouba) Shoulta, Jonathan Trouba, Daniel Trouba, Ryan Trouba, Lauren (Trouba) Anguiano, and Kasey Trouba. They were proud great-grandparents, and involved in the lives of numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of other family and friends.Frank and Margie delighted in their family, their friends, and their community.
They loved and were loved by so many, and they will be deeply missed.
