Frederick Allen Turnbeaugh was born May 25, 1955 in Oakland, California. He moved across the country with his parents Bess and Don and sister Donna, his favorites being Florida and Las Vegas. He joined the Navy in 1972, sailing on the U.S.S. Kiska in the Vietnam war. The Navy took him to other amazing places like Hawaii, Philippines, Panama, and many more. In 1977 he married the love of his life, Diana. Following work as an iron worker, they moved to Wyoming, Washington, California, and finally settled down in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Fred worked as a fabrication welder until he retired in 2020. He had a strong love of family, Jazz music, and flamingos. Fred loved to travel and had just returned from a trip to Florida with Diana.
Fred was preceded in death by his mother, Bess and father, Don Turnbeaugh; sister, Donna Dewitt; and nephew, Solon Dewitt. He is survived by his beloved wife, Diana; children, Karen (Sterling) Lehmer, Jon Turnbeaugh (Rob Mathews); grandson, Cooper Lehmer; brother-in-law, Mark (Peggy) Cavanaugh; sister-in-law, Vicki Cavanaugh; nephew, Lance (Shannon) Dewitt; cousin, Sandy (Les) DuVan Sharp; many nephews, nieces, and numerous loved ones.

Memorial service is Sunday, May 30, 2021, 1:00 p.m., at the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home. Visitation will be during the hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be in the North Grove Cemetery in Emerson. The family will direct memorials.
