George Nitcher Jr.

George Nitcher Jr., age 88, passed away August 10, 2024. He was born May 24, 1936 to George and Pearl (Stradley) Nitcher in Carpenter, IA. George was a terrific husband, father, welder, and woodworker. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially in his wood shop. George served in the US Army, including a post-war tour in Germany. He lived a majority of his life in Council Bluffs and worked at ReadyMix Concrete until he retired.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Cordelia; sisters, Maxine Kruger (Edward) and Joyce Hackbart; sister-in-law, Sandra Nitcher.

George is survived by his sons, Dr. Rodney & Mrs. Susan Nitcher of Papillion, NE, Drs. Randy & Kathleen Nitcher of Monument, CO; grandchildren, Jonathan (Veronica) Nitcher, Emily Nitcher, Ryan Nitcher, and Karen Nitcher; brother, Kenneth Nitcher; sister-in-law, Gretchen Vilaseca; and many beloved nieces and nephews, family and friends.

Memorial Service for George and his late wife, Cordelia "Cork" Nitcher will be Saturday, August 17, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home.
