Glenn Robert DuBois

Glenn's final act was a true reflection of the love & compassion he carried throughout his life.

Glenn was born to Dora Louise (Messman) & Leland Homer DuBois in Geneva, NE on March 8, 1948 & passed away August 23, 2026, at the Josie Harper Hospice House in Omaha, NE at the age of 78 years, 5 months, 15 days. Glenn died of Progressive Fibrosis. He was youngest of two children.

Glenn participated in high school sports- football, basketball, track, & excelled in baseball. He also played the tuba & was in choir. He graduated from Bruning High School in 1966 & earned a Refrigeration Mechanic degree from Milford Trade School in Milford, NE in 1969. After earning his degree, Glenn started at Hilt Truck Line, then moved into a sales role at Walker Tire. In 1995 he became the Sales Manager at Midland Carrier Transicold where he retired in 2015 after 20 years.

He was married to Delores Agnes Fessler of Sutton, NE on June 13, 1970, at St. Helena's Catholic Church, Grafton, NE. They lived in Glenwood, IA for 3 years before settling in Council Bluffs, IA. To this union 3 children were born. Glenn has been a member of St Patrick's Catholic Church in Council Bluffs, IA since 1973 where he participated in the church choir and funeral choir.

Glenn had a very outgoing & friendly personality which made him such a successful salesman. He always had a joke or story to tell & was a stranger to nobody. He enjoyed life & his family. He participated at all levels of the children's activities which included clubs, sports & music. He coached baseball & softball. He sponsored band trips to New York & bake sales for cub scouts. Glenn always enjoyed playing cards with family, friends and the church's Men's Club. Glenn was on the Briarwood Association Board for his neighborhood for 8 years.

Glenn loved hunting & was very good at it. He also enjoyed golfing & sporting events. His favorite hobby was fishing- at times he had fishing licenses in 5 states & took fishing trips from Canada to Mexico. Glenn owned 2 boats at once for over 40 years for use in lakes & farm ponds.

Glenn & Delores participated in Big Brothers Big Sisters & had put in for adoption prior to having their own children. His true delight was being able to see & enjoy their 6 grandchildren. They enjoyed their 2 adopted Granddaughters thru Unbound - Josehine from Uganda & Blessing from Kenya. They loved to travel & take the family on annual vacations from coast to coast. Since retirement, they wintered in The Villages, FL where they enjoyed playing golf, exercise classes, cards, live music & dancing. They traveled to all 50 states & several foreign countries including 9 European countries & Japan to see their Navy son Eric & family. Glenn loved to laugh, joke & tease others. He was a very loving husband, father, grandfather & friend to many.

He is preceded in death by his father, Leland Homer DuBois on Nov 9, 1981, mother, Dora Louise DuBois on Dec 29, 2009, brother Dayle Allen DuBois on Aug 5, 2024, brother-in-law William Earl Fessler on Jan 28, 1970, father-in-law Darrell Wayne Fessler on Jan 9, 1979, & mother-in-law Frances Winifred Fessler on Dec 7, 2023.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Delores Agnes DuBois & one daughter, Amy Nicole Sterling & Joshua of Ankeny, IA; two sons, Eric Clayton DuBois & Romney of Misawa Japan; Brian Scott DuBois & Laureen of Kansas City, MO & six grandchildren; Ashley & Jack Sterling of Ankeny, IA; Olivia & Owen DuBois of Misawa Japan; Dylan & Darryn DuBois of Kansas City, MO; sister-in-law Marlene DuBois of Harvard, NE; sister-in-law Betty Boitnott & John of Hebron NE; & three brothers-in-law Robert Fessler & Mary of Sutton, NE; James Fessler & Mary of Lincoln, NE; Richard Fessler & Carol of Grafton, NE; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins & friends.

Flowers are welcomed but no plants please. Memorials to be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Funeral arrangement by Hoy Kilnoski. Viewing on Fri, Sep 4th, 2026 from 5:00 p.m to 8:00 p.m at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home, 1221 North 16th Street, Council Bluffs, IA with Rosary to begin at 5:00 p.m.
Services will be on Sat, Sep 5th at 11:00am at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 4 Valley View, Council Bluffs, IA with lunch immediately following in the social hall. Live streaming of funeral will be thru Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home website.
Graveside service will be at St. Joseph Cemetery (1350 E Pierce St, Council Bluffs, IA 51503) on Tuesday, September 8, 2026 at 11:00am.
