Gordon Smith

Gordon D. Smith, age 91, passed away on February 21, 2024.

He was born August 31, 1932, to the late Dale and Ethel (Olson) Smith in Council Bluffs, IA. Gordon graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School with the class of 1950, and then proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He retired from Mutual of Omaha. Gordon was a charter member (and a lifetime member) of the Council Bluffs Rifle and Pistol Club; he was also a member of the Great Plains Wing of the Commemorative Air Force Museum.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Steven Smith; sisters, Shirl Feekin and JoAnn Cochran.

Gordon is survived by his wife of 70 years, Etta Maye Smith; children, Kimberly (James "Bo") Setzekorn, Jeffrey (Jenny) Smith, Lynn (Matt) McCourt, and Cheri (Walt) Stivers; 12 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home on Friday, March 08, 2024.

Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home on Friday, March 8, 2024. The family will direct memorials.
