Harlene Marie Wewel, age 80, passed away in Council Bluffs on July 27, 2024.

Harlene was born June 1, 1944 at Walter Reed hospital in Washington, DC during WWII to Harlan (White House guard for FDR) and Helen (Panoushek) Berkheimer.

Harlene was preceded in death by her parents, Harlan and Helen Berkheimer.

She is survived by her husband, Merle Butterbaugh; daughters, Holly (Steve) Phillipps and Terri (Chet) Benest; grandson, Cooper Phillipps; granddaughter, Bridget Benest; sister, Ginger (Wes) Parker; nephew, John Parker; and niece, Jennifer Parker; extended family, Michelle (John) Nielsen; Jeffrey (Mary Beth) Butterbaugh and Perry (Teresa) Butterbaugh; along with grandchildren; Eric (Rachel) Nielsen, Scott (Julie) Nielsen, Andrea (Craig) Fullerton, Laura (Josh) Molinaro, Emily (James) Byrne, Carter Butterbaugh, Marisa Lind, Carol Lind, Shelby Butterbaugh, Kelsy Butterbaugh and Max Butterbaugh; great grandchildren, Hudson, Daxton and Bronson Nielsen, Owen and Bella Nielsen, Caden and Kylie Fullerton, Jadon and Gemma Molinaro, Maddox Mueller and Malachi Nemmers.

Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home on Monday, August 19, 2024. Donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Paul's Evangelical Country Church.
