Hazel Vaughn

Hazel (Frieze) Vaughn, age 99, passed away June 1, 2025.

She was born to the late Forrest and Mary Frieze on February 19, 1926, in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Hazel was the only daughter of nine children.

Hazel worked 23 years at Wilson Packing, then Apple Realty and Mercy Hospital (retiring in 1990). She was a greeter at Wal-Mart and volunteered as a grandmother at Edison and Lewis Central schools, retiring in 1992 due to health reasons. She was a member of a Red Hat Club and very active in the community. She was also a member of the DAR, Daughters of the American Revolution.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by daughters, Sandra Wilson and Kristy Wells; and son-in-law, Bernie Marcks.

She is survived by daughters, Karen Marcks, Sharon Vaughn, and Kathy (Jim) DeLawter; sons, Jack (Jan) Vaughn and Steve Vaughn; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; brothers, Jerry Criswell and Robert "Bobby" Criswell; nieces, nephews, and a host of other family and friends.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home on Saturday, June 07, 2025. Cortage will leave the funeral home at 1:00pm for a Graveside Service at Garner Township Cemetery. The family will direct memorials.
