Helen Marie Franklin

Helen Marie Franklin, age 81, passed away peacefully at St. Joseph Villa on June 14, 2026.

She was born August 1, 1944, to the late Marvin and Ruth (Andersen) Knickman in Council Bluffs, IA. Helen graduated from Treynor High School.

Helen was known for her genuine interest in people and her gift for conversation. She loved hearing about the lives of others and had a remarkable ability to remember personal details, stories, and milestones. Whether you had known her for years or had just met her, she made you feel seen and valued.
She was a strong, independent, and determined woman who approached life on her own terms.
Her stubbornness was often part of her strength, helping her face life's challenges with resilience and perseverance. She valued her independence and worked hard to maintain it throughout her life.
Above all, she cherished her family and friends. Her warmth, curiosity, and unwavering spirit left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death hy her husband, Albert Franklin.

Helen is survived by her daughters, Kaylene Hatcher and Chantal Franklin (Calvin Newton); grandson, Steven Seyler (Kristen); sisters, Lois Rageth (Kenneth), Ruth Gapen, Shirley Anderson, and Sharlene Smith; brother, Jack Knickman; nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of other family and friends.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 17, 2026. Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home on Thursday, June 18, 2026. Interment is in Cedar Lawn Cemetery. The family will direct memorials.
