SSgt. Alejandro "Hondo" Huerta

SSgt. Alejandro "Hondo" Huerta, age 31, passed away on April 4, 2026.

He was born August 24, 1994 to Samuel and Jolene (Fichter) Huerta in Council Bluffs, IA. Hondo was proudly serving his country in the United States Air Force.

Hondo is survived by his wife of 7 years, Daisy Huerta; children, Wesley Huerta, Opal Huerta, Samuel Huerta, and Gabriel Huerta; parents, Samuel & Jolene Huerta; siblings, Tyler Huerta (Brie), Jaime Huerta (Lucy), Javier Huerta (Tori), Adriana Huerta (Bret Bent), and Kaelyn Huerta; grandmother, Martina Huerta; in-laws, Duell & Sonja Sullivan; siblings-in-law, Duell Sullivan Jr. (Jessica), Autumn Knight (Kolby), and Summer Sullivan (Josh Chavarria); nieces and nephews, Ryker Huerta, Rylan Huerta, Jaxon Huerta, Gabriella Huerta, Lucca Huerta, Elaina Huerta, Baylor Bent, Ella Sullivan, Easton Sullivan, Cora Sullivan, Callie Sullivan; best friends, Martin Vidales; aunts uncles, and cousins; a host of other family and friends.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM with a Vigil Service at 6:30PM at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home on Thursday, April 09, 2026. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM at Saint Patrick Catholic Church on Friday, April 10, 2026. Interment with military honors will follow in the Fairview Pioneer Cemetery. In lieu of flowers and plants, the family will direct memorials in Hondo's honor for his children.
