Ian Hoover

December 5, 1932 — May 4, 2024

Ian Hoover, age 91, passed away May 4, 2024. He was born December 5, 1932 to George and Ada (Diehl) Hoover in Alameda, CA.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Roberta (Hilliard); daughter, Julene Hoover; and sister, Helen Perry and great-granddaughters, Maisey Hoover and Elora Wildasin.

Ian is survived by his children, Michael (Sherri) Hoover, Jeffrey (Melinda) Hoover, Gary Hoover, and Jennifer Wildasin (Jay/Curly); brother, Ken (Ruth) Hoover; sister, Hilda Hoover; 9 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; and a host of other Christian family and friends.

After graduating High School, Ian enlisted in the Marines where he served for two years before enrolling into Simpson Bible College. After completing Bible College, Ian invested a lifetime, along with his wife of 61 years, Roberta, faithfully serving the Lord and his many congregations in Oregon, Washington, Iowa and Texas, as a Senior Pastor for The Christian and Missionary Alliance Worldwide Ministries. In addition to his role as a pastor, Ian actively participated in new church planning and served as an outstanding personal, marriage and family counselor!

Ian developed a passion for the well being of Police Officers and served as a chaplain for the Newton, IA., Council Bluffs, IA., Police Departments, and the Iowa State Patrol.

Ian's passion for sharing Jesus Christ never wavered.

In his lifetime Ian was instrumental in leading hundreds of people to Christ and never missed an opportunity to hand out a Bible tract or pray with someone! At 90 years of age he was still leading a Bible Study at his assisted living center, preaching the gospel, and entertaining people with his unending sense of humor and corny jokes. He will be missed!
