Jack G. Mowery, age 94, passed away peacefully at Midlands Living Center on April 2, 2024.
He was born June 23, 1929 to William and Edna (Moon) Mowery in Council Bluffs, IA. Jack was a member of Plumber's Local 16 in addition to farming. He was an active member of the Church of the Nazarene for over 65 years, served on the church board, served as a trustee and an usher. If it was Sunday, he was going to church. He was also a member of the National Christmas Tree Association. He planted and groomed the trees for families to come and cut their own Christmas tree. He loved watching the excited kids and families each year. His dream of owning a small farm became a reality and he enjoyed all aspects of farm life. He was a hard worker, but his family came first. He loved the animals he raised, the gardens, especially sweet corn season, the beautiful sunrises and awesome sunsets. Each showed God’s handiwork.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine; siblings, Vivian Garber, Iola James, Edward "Ted" Mowery, George Mowery, Richard Mowery, Florence "Jim" Thompson, William Mowery, and Peggy Simpson.
Jack is survived by his children, John (Donna) Mowery, Diana (Jonn) Coleman, and Dennis (Jeana) Mowery; special niece, Norma Jean Mass; grandchildren and great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
