James Doty

James Wilson Doty passed away on July 20, 2022 at the age of 67. He was born on August 18, 1954, the middle of three children to James and Betty (Fitzgerald) Doty. James graduated from Missouri Valley High School with the class of 1972, then attended Wayne State College for one year. He began a thirty-year career as a florist in 1973. He was the owner of Cables Florist in Missouri Valley and then merged that business with Perkins Florist in Missouri Valley and Logan, Iowa. He was a life long devoted Christian attending and serving the Missouri Valley Christian Church, and in retirement from business, worked at the church as Office Administrator and Music Director. Through the church, he developed many very close friends. He loved friends and family along with music, flowers and plants, and cooking a great meal. He had a kind and gentle spirit and a witty sense of humor.

Survivors include one sister, Dale Ann (Dan) Hoyt and one brother John (Dawn) Doty all of Missouri Valley. Nephews, Adam (Jennifer) Hoyt, Michael Doty, and Jeffrey Doty. One niece, Sarah (Cory) Hornbeck.

James was preceded in death by his parents and nephew, Joel Hoyt.
