Janet Nelson

Janet Nelson, age 74, passed away on May 1, 2025. She was born on October 15,

1950, to Walter and Thelma (Springer) Boe in Omaha, Nebraska. Janet graduated

from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1968. She earned her bachelor's and

master's degrees from Bellevue University. She had a very successful 36-year

career as a project manager in telecommunications with Northwestern Bell, US

West and Quest.

Janet was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, and friend. She was an avid

Nebraska Cornhusker football fan who rarely missed a home game. She enjoyed

traveling the country and especially loved the beaches of Hawaii and Florida where

she became an avid sea shell collector. Janet also had a passion for animals, which

began after spending summers on her grandparents' farm in South Dakota as a

child. She was blessed to care for many wonderful pets throughout her lifetime;

notably, Jaque, Doogan, Chandler, Boe, and Archie.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Nelson.

Janet is survived by her children, Erin Nelson, Eric (Kori) Nelson, and Ryan

(Cassie Wertz) Nelson; her grandchildren Brooke and Bryce Nelson; her sister

Judy Ivy; and a host of other family and friends.

Visitation will be held from 5:00pm - 7:00pm at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 7th, 2025.

The family will direct memorials.
