Joel Hoyt

It is with profound sadness that the family of Joel Hoyt (Council Bluffs, IA), announce his passing on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at the age of 49.

Joel was born on July 7, 1972. He graduated from Missouri Valley High School in 1990 and worked as a mail carrier for the United States Post Office for over 25 years. Joel enjoyed fishing and the great outdoors. He loved music and had a tender heart for animals, and above all else, Joel was a loyal fan of the Minnesota Vikings and Iowa State Cyclones. He was a friend to all with his easy-going nature, infectious laugh, and genuine smile.

Joel is survived by his parents, Dan and Dale Ann Hoyt of Missouri Valley, IA; brother Adam (Jennifer) Hoyt of Missouri Valley, IA; and sister Sarah (Cory) Hornbeck of Scottsdale, AZ. Preceding him in death are his maternal grandparents, Jim and Betty Doty; paternal grandparents, Marvin and Nancy Hoyt; and paternal uncle, Terry Hoyt.

Visitation will be held at the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home & Crematory, 1221 N. 16th St, Council Bluffs, IA 51501, on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at 1:00 pm and service beginning at 2:00 pm, followed by a luncheon.
