John Charles Pitzl

John Pitzl, a cherished son, husband, father, and friend to many, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2026, in Omaha, after a long illness.

Born in Omaha, Nebraska, to Johnny and Mary Jane (Sacco) Pitzl, John grew up surrounded by a large, loving family.

A graduate of Bellevue University, John had a successful career as a water maintenance engineer at the Metropolitan Utilities District in Omaha, where he dedicated nearly two decades of his life. John's life was also characterized by his service to his country. He served in the Navy for four years after high school. After his service, he became a member of the American Legion. Music was John's passion, and he found joy as the bass player for Bad Influence (Omaha). His love for music was matched by his love of fixing motorcycles and racing drag bikes, pursuits that brought him great happiness.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents and many aunts and uncles.

He is survived by his wife Stephanie and their daughters, Margo and Kami. John also leaves behind his parents, Johnny and Mary Jane, and brothers Jeff (Denise) and Brad (Sarah), along with his nieces, nephew, many cousins, and a wide circle of friends who cared for him.

In honoring John's wishes, there will not be a funeral. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the UNMC Buffett Cancer Center, an organization that provided much-needed support during his illness.
