Josephine Meade

Josephine E. Meade, age 100, passed away peacefully at Bethany Lutheran Home on November 4, 2026.

She was born October 8, 1926, to the late Ross and Charlotte (Spoto) Leggio in Council Bluffs, IA.

Josephine graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School and then earned a nursing certificate from Mercy Hospital. She was a member of Saint Patrick Catholic Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen Carl Meade; brother, Phillip Leggio; sister, Anita Weidman, Rose Leggio, and Mary Rousch; sons-in-law, George McIntosh and Conrad "Connie" Rasmussen; grandson, Allen McIntosh.

Josephine is survived by her children, JoAnn Rasmussen, Stephen "Bud" Meade (Charlotte), Tom Meade (Becky), Julie Richards (Mike), and Patty Failla (Tom); brother, Joe Leggio (Marilynn); sister, Katherine Blodgett (Kenneth); 13 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild; nieces, nephews, and cousins; a host of other family and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday, November 12, 2026, at Saint Patrick Catholic Church. A luncheon will follow in the parish hall. Inurnment later that afternoon at Saint Joseph Cemetery.
