Joshua Mark Fleischer, 59, passed away surrounded by the love of his family. Josh was born on May 21, 1967, in New York, New York, where he spent his childhood in Great Neck, New York in a lively home filled with grandparents, aunts, countless family memories, and an assortment of beloved animals, including, at one point, even a snake. It was a home that was never quiet, always full of laughter and love, teaching him that family is the most important thing.
After graduating from college, Josh began a new chapter in California before eventually making his home in Council Bluffs, Iowa. No matter where life took him, he had a remarkable ability to build lasting friendships and create meaningful connections. His kindness, humor, generosity, and genuine interest in others left a lasting impression on everyone he met. Josh’s friendships stretched across the country and around the world, a testament to the way he made people feel valued, accepted, and loved.
Josh is survived by his devoted wife, Lisa Fleischer; his children, Samantha and Maxwell; his mother, Renee Fleischer; brother Corey Fleischer, sister Deborah Fleischer, brother-in-law Michael Nussbaum, his nieces Hannah Rose and Becky, and great niece Erin Joy. He also leaves behind many extended family members, cherished friends, and countless others whose lives were made brighter by knowing him.
Though he will be deeply missed, Josh’s spirit will continue to live on in the stories shared, the laughter remembered, and the countless friendships he nurtured throughout his life.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Tunnels to Towers Foundation in Joshua's honor.
