Karen Sue Sward

Karen S. Sward, age 70, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2026.

She was born September 29, 1955, to the late David and June (Thompson) McIntosh in Council Bluffs, IA. Karen loved the outdoors. She did wildlife photography and was known as the bird lady. Together, her late husband, Larry and she bred birds and competed in bird shows. They were members of the state bird society.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Larry E. Sward Sr.

Karen is survived by her sons, Larry E. Sward Jr. and Garry E. Sward; sisters, Dee Sellers, Ruth Tibbles, and Jenny McClary; grandchildren, Alyssa Sward, Naomi Sward, Benjamin Sward, and Oliver Sward.

Karen has been cremated and there are no services scheduled at this time.
