Kathleen Novak

Kathleen Novak, age 73, passed away peacefully on December 28, 2025. She was born on May 12, 1952, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, to William and Winifred (Hopp) Kemmish.

Kathleen spent many years working at H&R Block, where she was known for her dedication and friendly nature. Outside of work, she found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved attending small dog camp with her beloved dogs and cherished time spent camping, especially at White River in Arkansas with her husband, Thomas. She also enjoyed getting together with a close-knit group of ladies to knit, a group bonded by laughter, friendship, and a special name that was best kept among themselves.

In addition to her parents, Kathleen was preceded in death by her infant sister, Christine.

She is survived by her loving husband, Thomas Novak; her son, James Hogsett, Jr.; her brother, Fred Kemmish; and other family members and dear friends who will remember her kindness and gentle spirit.

A Celebration of Kathleen’s Life will be held at a later date.
